The water pump facility is a public building established to prevent the region from flooding.
This facility was required because there were consequent flooding areas in Seoul, which the city planners were unable to foresee because of its rapid urbanization. But this facility is unwelcome to regional citizens because it is very old and is not very authentic. I suggest this public space to become a regional landmark while providing a resting place for the region.
‘A building emitting its maximum beauty at raining days’ is the concept of this building.
Motivated by the lines of leaves of which its structure leads water drops join in. It’s organic shape is accentuated by rainwater. Rain falls onto the structure and follow the curved lines on the structure’s exterior to form natural ripples. Another building, in its geometrical shape, with its four planes in rhombus, delivers the illusion inside the building that they are exposed to rain. This water pump facility provides a resting place and facility that citizen can use, while its exterior gives authentic inspiration. This will be the landmark of Seoul, truly serving its duty as a public building
